A must have "ready to grab" for any veterinary clinic and wildlife rehabilitation center

This an excellent book to have for a veterinary virology class. I have never learned so much about different viruses!

This book is highly recomended to those of us who must struggle through veterinary microbiology. It makes the subject decipherable, and does not slip into the jargon that is so often found in science textbooks. The book begins with intrductory "How viruses work" material, before moving onto the various virus groups. Each section of the book starts out with a general introduction on how that group works/attacks, wheteher they need intermediate hosts, lifespan in the outside environment, etc. Then, it delves further into each virus within that family (genus/class?) with sections on pahtology, epidemiology, etc. All in all, a very nice reference book for veterinary students. There is not much info on West Nile, but there is a nice section on Foot and Mouth. Generally, those viruses which are important in the West, plus a few that are important for other reasons arecovered. Other viruses are mentioned. There is also a small section in the back on prion diseases, which may not be important currently, but will be important to know about, even in te USA (Scrapie, Chronic Wasting Disease, just to name a few.) I highly recomend this book.

very didatic and easy to understand, that explains all about the vet virology in a very easy way for the college students,contents many examples about real cases and variety on important viral strains into the veterinary medicine and microbiology.

I have always loved the theme of the plain girl getting the handsome, athletic, top of the popularity school guy.This story started out very sweet with Allie pining over Connor. Connor and Allie are extremely likable characters. Connor has grown up next door to Allie and they have been the best of friends since childhood. Connor is very protective of Allie and he even drives her to school to everyday. Connor has had a slew of girlfriends but in his heart, Allie is the one he cares for the most in his lifeAllie, on the other hand, wears baggy clothes and when she looks in the mirror she sees just a plain looking appearance. She has never been on a date. She has friends and is a bit of a tomboy. She is the trainer for the football team.However, once her friend Eden, "the fairy godmother-ish character, forces her to do a makeover, things start changing. Other boys in the school really see how beautiful she is and start to show her much more interest. Connor's jealousy sparks to full force as other boys want to date Allie and the rest of the novel deals with how the two of them change positively in finally letting their true feelings out.However, as an adult reader, the angst, angst, angst wore me out. I think this novel could have been shortened for all the repetition of feelings, pretend dating (that part I really couldn't figure out) and eventually toward the HEA.I started skimming through pages and then just read the epilogue and the two chapters preceding it.I did like how the reader has both point of views for the characters.As of 8/5/17: I added to the stars because I admit to going back and reading the chapters I skimmed over. It is extremely sweet and definitely pulls at the heart strings.It is a clean read and definitely a good YA romance for teenagers who love all the twists and turns for confusion, misinterpreting signals, and finally reaching the HEA by the end.

I really wanted to like this book. I found myself struggling about 40% through to keep going. Connor isn't very well written. He comes off as needy and co-dependent. Allie is bratty and whiny. And absolutely clueless. Not in a cute way. In a what the heck is wrong with you sort of way. Both characters are one dimensional without ever becoming deeper.The book jumped around mid-story between characters. And even Eden, Allie's annoying, snarky bff, had a cameo takeover in the middle of the chapter. How this book is ranked so high is beyond me. This was a cute idea that fell off the rails due to the author not developing the characters better.Overall, it's a solid 2.5 stars from me.

This is the perfect best friends to more troupe - after I got past the very beginning I was hooked!Starting off, though, was a little rough. The tense it was written has the narrators saying “she was...,” and “he was,” - and it just felt awkward, like - are they dead?! But once I allowed myself to get over this I barely noticed it. I think the author found her groove a few chapters in and that helped a lot. I did find some of the cutesy language of the narration a little annoying (eg. they are talking to the reader directly - I don’t really want to be spoken to in a book). Again, the story itself makes up for this.

There were not many devastating scenes that break your heart, however I couldn’t imagine this book any better. I loved it. I SCREAMED at the end. So loudly. The epilogue fulfilled my every hope. I just really really want a plot line for Jamie. He was so sweet and cute and funny. I also loved JJ and this book, I must say, has given me goosebumps. I am in complete love with this book, I definitely recommend if you like the best friends to lovers trope.

Conner and Allie's story is the story that happens at every high school but you still root for it. This was excellent from start to finish. The story just flowed and there was never a lull in the storyline. Beautifully written.

The book was cute and fun to read. Will recommend to all my friends. I love the way the male character just completely protect his girl😍

i hate returning books, but i hate poor writing even more. i didn't even make it through four pages of the first book before making the decision to return all three for a refund.

Believable, sweet, heart throbby. If you love young love, read it! Good pacing too. I really like how the heroine is so relatable.

I am very interested in studying Law. I even want to enter a law school. But I can’t, since I am fulltime teaching math and already got my PhD. So I decided to study by myself. I found this book from the book list for law students at UCLA School of Law. I like this book very much. This book is about criminal law and its processes as the title indicated and more importantly, it has many cases and materials. Thus, this book has the fundamental legal knowledge.I heard some student said that studying law is boring. But I feel this book is not boring at all, it is fascinating. It not only has the knowledge law students need to learn but also has interesting lead to guide students to learn.This book has ten chapters. Chapter 1 is Institutions and Processes. Chapter 2 is The Justification and Punishment. Chapter 3 is Defining Criminal Conduct –The Elements of Just Punishment. Chapter 4 is Rape. Chapter 5 is Homicide. Chapter 6 is The Significance of Resulting Harm. Chapter 7 is Group Criminality. Chapter 8 is Exculpation. Chapter 9 is Theft Offenses. Chapter 10 is Discretion.

This edition is one of my least favorites because it just didn't cover enough subject areas. It could have been a few hundred pages longer to include other crimes instead of shorter and limited to only a few crimes and cases.

...now in book format. This one has EVERYTHING: murder, robberies, conspiracy, entrapment, old-timey English courts with judges in wigs, sea captains, nautical murder, russian roulette, forbidden love, vigilantism, drugs, drug busts, and, best of all, the Model Penal Code.

This is the books law students carry everyday. They pour over this. Many go back to it after they've passed their bar. I got it just to educate myself on the laws and processes of our litigious nation. It's complicated but its also structured to keep your interest. A GREAT READ!

Either they fixed the problem with equations not being expandable, or the reviewer who complained wasn't patient enough. Expanding them is a little tricky, but I succeeded with almost all of them. You have to touch the equation itself for just the right amount of time, then tap on the plus sign in the circle. Getting "just the right amount of time" is what makes it tricky. My objective in reading this book was to find out what the fine-tuning discussion is about. Explaining the supposedly finely tuned parameters required a lot of explanation of modern physics along the way; I thought Stenger did that rather well. I also found his arguments to be pretty clear and easy to follow. I did not agree with all of them. His use of equations helped with the explanations but I think one could follow his reasoning even glossing over the equations. Frankly, I did some of that myself. However, Stenger uses Planck units to express the equations of physics without five of the fundamental constants (the speed of light in vacuum and four others). He concludes from this that those constants cannot be finely tuned because they don’t even appear. This conclusion is just plain wrong. Speeds, for example, when expressed in Planck units, are given as dimensionless fractions of the speed of light in a vacuum. But it is the relative values of speeds that matter, not the units in which they are measured. If the speed of sound in air (1100 ft/sec or 0.00000112 in dimensionless Planck units) were close to the speed of light, the universe would be very different! The same observation holds for phenomena whose measurements expressed in terms of the gravitational constant, the reduced Planck constant, the Coulomb constant, or the Boltzmann constant. That is, those constants are not removed by using Planck units, they are merely implicit instead of explicit. That said, this is only one of his major arguments.

"In The Fallacy Of Fine-Tuning" Stenger brilliant demolishes the argument from design and fine-tuning. A physicist by trade, Stenger put his knowledge to work in attempting to answer the big questions of the universes origins and true nature.The book is articulated well with it's share of humor and analogies (so laymen can understand). However there is some unavoidable technical scientific stuff so it's not the easist read. The book is likely his most technical book in recent years. You will likely, unless your come from a scientific background, skip over some things or accept them without complete understanding. But Stenger does well enough in his articulation that you likely should be able to make it through.Unlike his other books however this is much more specific on it's topic and contain less overlapping with his other books (which he is known for doing). The book also is a bit to digest (as our most if not all of his books). He goes all out and leaves few if any stones unturned. Also the technical bent can be annoying to those who prefer more mainstream, popular books.I would recommend that you check out some of his other books especially "God The Failed Hypothesis" as together they make for a much more complete argument on the existence of a higher power. Also I would recommend some other atheist books such as "The God Delusion" (Dawkins), "Th End of Faith" (Harris) & "Godless" (Barker). Their more mainstream, easier to read and better for the average reader.At the end of the day I found Stenger's books the most helpful in helping me form my own beliefs about the existence of a higher power. His books take more time and dedication than his colleagues but he's much more in depth and complete in his arguments in analysis. For me figuring out what I wanted to believe (and thus how I was going to live my life given what I believe) was important. So the time and energy I took in reading and digesting Stengers material was worth it and you may want to do the same.That being said the book is not for everybody. If you don't care too much to learn, or are already sastified with your current knowledge, about the fine tuning argument, and see why the argument comes up short, then the book is not for you. But again if you do care and what the complete picture before you make your decision on what you believe then definitely hear Stenger out in this book and his others.
