I recently traveled to Europe for the first time. I bought Rick's Best Of books for Italy, Scotland and England. I have to say we found them invaluable! The maps, the tips, the suggestions on what to see, when to see it, how to see it, etc. I never failed in following Rick's advice! To be honest I was very, very happy with these books but I probably in the future will get the full books that he offers on a country. Meaning instead of buying the Best of Scotland I would buy Scotland. I know now it will just give more tips, more data on more places and that could only be better!I would highly recommend these guides for any traveler. They will be my go-to guides from now on!
Rick Steves strikes again! We spent a week in Scotland and followed a modified version of Mr. Steves recommended trip. Every turn, every restaurant recommendation was spot on. We especially loved our time in Glencoe & Inverness. The guide had fantastic advice about the best hikes that rivaled what we heard from the ranger stations (in some cases even better!) If you're traveling somewhere for the first time, I highly recommend Rick Steves' guides.
I like the information but feels like they really tried to cut costs on printing by using super thin paper for the pages.
