this book came apart once I got it owner did not disclose that in the notes. It was a waste of money

Former textbooks we've used were almost cartoonish and went along with the aforementioned perceptions.In Sports Media, Schultz makes it a point to educate without fluff. Absent from this book are long biographies about famous sports broadcasters that can be found on the Internet, and it it's place is dedication to the Internet itself as a sports medium.The first chapters discuss Reporting and the difference in how to do it between Print and Broadcast as well as the Internet. Then the book goes into the Visualizaton of sports. I purchased this Bible as a gift for my elderly aunt that’s in a nursing home after someone stole hers from her room. She’s very religious and missed having the Bible for comfort. I ordered this particular Bible because it had very large print and was King James, her preferred version. It was so pretty! The cover is very soft and the fact that it lays flat makes is easier for her to read. The words are very big so it’s comfortable on your eyes while reading. I’m thinking about getting a pink one for myself if there’s a NIV as I find the KJV a little difficult to understand. The look on my aunts face was worth every penny!

I bought this Bible for my husband after I bought the My Creative Bible for myself. He was very happy with it and likes the turquoise colors and feel. The cover has a very nice leather with textured flowers and leaves. It has a dark blue ribbon. Two would have been nice. The text is big which is very nice. The words of Christ are in red. It has nice maps in the back and a year reading plan. I also like the silver on the edge of the pages. It would have been nice if the chapters had titles for when scenes change. The only reason this is getting four stars is the pronouns for God and Jesus are not capitalized. He, Him and His. This makes reading confusing at times and capitalizing these is a sign of respect the way God, Spirit and Lord are capitalized. Hopefully this will be fixed in future printings. Other than that we are very impressed. I may have to get a second copy of this.

I got this bibile yesterday. I am satisfied with this bible. " All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works". Timonthy 3:16-17

Daughter loves it but i am concerned about the thin pages for a child. The words are nice and big. It has no headings for the scriptures which would have been great. The words of Jesus are in red. And the cover is a little too thin. I expected more from this bible but it's workable. It's still not bad

I am very happy with this bible it is very beautiful, i love the fact that it has larger print which makes it so much easier to read.

Others complain about the thin paper and the read thru, but the type is set so that it's not an issue (between the lines). Nice color actually, pseudo leather works fine for me. It would be nice to have the cross references in the margins, etc. but for $20 this is great.

I love this book. I first read it when I was 8, living in Connecticut, with family friends who lived in downstate New York, where the Catskills begin. I always wanted to find a quiet hillside on which to live, as long as I could find a library nearby to keep me company. I read this book to all of my children, and they in turn re-read it when they were just a bit older. It's for that little bit of longing to escape from the world that visits nearly everyone from time to time.

I got this for my 11 yo son because they were going to read the first book for his 5th grade class and he loved it so much he wanted more and his own copy! Less then 3 weeks later he had finished the entire set:) So if you have a kid that you want to get into reading that likes the out doors this is the book set for them! I am going to barrow it to re read it because it has been a few years.

I read this book aloud to my children. They absolutely loved it, and so did I. Ms. George obviously enjoyed exploring all of the survival concepts she could think of, and she did a fine job telling the "story" of the possibilities in each situation. This is a teaching book, which is why it will always be a classic. It not only teaches survival concepts, but also responsibility and courageous stewardship.

Although this book is intended for young adults, I decided to get it even though I'm in my 50s. I'd read it when I was young and really enjoyed it. I kind of half expected to be disappointed....often things I liked as a youngster seem pretty lame now. This book, however, was still good. Some parts were a little, "Oh, yeah, right," but was mostly realistic. Would recommend it to anyone of any age.

I first read this book at school as an 8 year old. I never forgot the book "My side of the Mountain" or the name of the author. I still have my original copy, and to see it here for sale I had to have it. This book triggers the imagination, It boldly explores a boys desire for being in touch with nature and a simple life. This is a book everyone should read.

This is one of my favorite children's books. It is a throwback to a different time when vocabulary was rich and peppered the pages of children's literature. It is an excellent story of man and nature and ever so readable. Please, PLEASE buy this for your children and read it with them. Share with them a time when education was vastly more important and appreciated than today.

This was my favorite book as a child! My second grade teacher read this to us as part of reading class. She only read a chapter a day, so on a Friday,{ I couldn't wait until Monday}, I went to the library and checked the book out, and finished it over the weekend. To this day i can't understand why my teacher was so angry when i admitted this to her. Anyway, i bought this to read it to my granddaughter, and i hope she enjoys it as much as i did.

I read My Side of the Mountain when I was in junior high school, and I wanted to get this book for my son. I read it before I gave it to him, and I couldn't put it down. Each night I read one of the the trilogy and I remembered why I loved it so much as a kid. My son is in 2nd grade and now he is reading it too. He is young, but reads non stop so a novel isn't too much for him. I am so glad I finally own this book, it's a great book to turn kids onto reading, and it is a great book for all ages.

If you have boys between six and ten, you can't go wrong with this book. My boys are six and I took great pleasure in reading it to them. When my boys are ten, I have no doubt they'll take great pleasure reading it themselves.Lots of terrifi descriptions about something every young kid thinks about at least once (running away). Very, very well imagined and executed.Recommended without reservation.

I bought this for my mother who currently reads Readers Digest large print with no problem. Apparently there is no uniformity in what they call large print because the print in this book is about half the size of Readers Digest Large Print

Bought this to read to my elderly mother, but many of the stories were depressing, told of losing loved ones, death, etc. I can't read these to her! I thought they would be sweet stories but these were a bummer. It would have cost about $5 to return, so it's just a bad experience all around.

Love Philip Gulley's tales! He's like a Quaker Garrison Keillor with the same astute observations on human nature, small town life, colorful neighbors, and just the wonders of life in general. Not at all sappy or syrupy. Poignant, funny, and very witty. If you want to escape from all the bad stuff in the world, and go back to looking for the good, I highly recommend this book and this author.

This was supposed to be a large print book, it is not. It might be a little bigger than the usual small print in novels but my 96 year old friend is unable to read it. Don't expect the usual large print if you buy this one.

If you find the whole genre of 'Chicken Soup for the Soul' type books to be annoyingly sappy and over-the-top then this book is your antidote.It features real stories from real life whereby the author (a Quaker pastor) draws real substantive wisdom. Where Chicken Soup and the like were "cute" or "charming", Gulley is challenging. There's plenty laugh out loud comedy here too, and enough sweetness to aggravate a toothache, but those elements are the icing instead of the cake.Gulley talks about raising children to be tough, the capacity people have for mid-life change, prayer, loss, flexibility, the home, the dignity of work, the debilitating effect of television, why we need more listening and less psychology, love between a husband & wife, and many other subjects. Kathy Barker received her B.A. in Biology and English, and her M.A. and Ph.D. in Microbiology, from various branches of the University of Massachusetts. This is a wonderful resource for any lab that has rotating personnel. Often, experienced researchers don't have the time or interest to orient new people but it's all here, and I would be surprised if even an experienced scientist could read through this whole manual without finding useful information.The author uses common sense and a casual style, and assumes that the reader knows nothing. Early chapters explore BASIC basics, like getting along with colleagues, getting started the first week, questions to ask, and safety procedures; lab setup and equipment; and organization.Later chapters discuss designing and setting up experiments, using a lab notebook, presenting data, making reagents (including storage and disposal) and working in a sterile environment.Final chapters detail work with eukaryotic cell cultures, bacteria, dna/rna/protein, radioactivity, centrifugation, electrophoresis and a light microscope.Along the way the reader will learn how to format a journal article, work in a hood or stay in touch with the PI. The only thing missing is library research, but since this is a bench guide that seems a forgivable omission.[2017 update: Of course the internet is a game changer. Most lab personnel will be using the net not only to research but as a hyperlinked manual. A print lab manual is still desireable imo but should include information regarding online research such as evaluating sources and even hardware maintenance.][Apparently this manual was updated in 2004, addressing internet issues and equipment advances. The author updated her companion volume, At the Helm, in 2010. It'd be great if she'd update this wonderful manual as well.]Spiral bound and formatted for easy access and understandability, the volume concludes with a glossary and a good index. Black and white line drawings and pictures identify items found in labs and illustrate techniques from pipetting to making entries in a notebook.This is not a textbook written by someone who's never worked in a laboratory; it is a sensible, intelligent guide -- the dream tour you'd like to give each of your technicians/students if you only had the time!Also handy if a person is having problems and you want to refer them to written material.Any working lab could benefit from the addition of this volume. I bought the old version because it was cheaper. It's a great reference for those just starting to work in a research laboratory. If you just want a primer, the old version is enough. But the old version is clearly the 'old version,' and hasn't been updated for the digital lab.Great reference, though, all around. If you can afford the new version, go for it, but it not, the old version will give you 95% of what you need to know about working in a lab.

This book is very comprehensive and I was surprised at how thick it is based on the price. However, the book seems to be geared towards those who are super young and already extremely athletic. All the jumps, landings, and tricks you've ever seen in parkour or freerunning are included for indoor and outdoor environments. There is also some history and the normal basic personal training/strength training info. about muscle fibers, etc.However, what is lacking is the training necessary to strengthen the necessary muscles for all of the exciting parkour stuff. The originators of parkour did a lot of training before trying the feats we all now strive to be able to do. Those actions that seems risky to outsiders was actually just a natural progression of their journey. While this book isn't what I was hoping for, it may be useful later down the line.

Bought this book for my son, who is very in to Parkour. It is the best we've gotten with detailed training tips, " how to" s and suggestions to set up a course. Lots of pictures to support training. An excellent resource, so much so, that we've purchased more copies to give as gifts!

I loved this book! It has everything you have to know about parkour as a beginner. And more of it I think it can be useful for an instuctor.As it writes about the history, techniques and many other stuffs. You can learn from it at home. Best buy i think. From the four i read till now.

I still have this book and I read it seldom now. It's a very nice feature, and it's worth the read if you're into Urban Sports.

Pros:The pictures are great and give you great insight into the training processThe set up and instruments they use give you a good idea on what to look for with respect to training spotsCons:The explanations are worded differently and hard to understand in some partsThis book is more of an introduction (in my opinion) than a true manual for the artSome of the pictures are poorly framedI recommend this book to add to your collection, but do not count on it as a sole guide.
