I was going to give you a c maybe c+ rating because, I thought, you weren't up to William Faulkner, or such. But by the middle you started gaining and by the end you became a knockout. I don't know how to add more to this now but I will find out. There are conspiracy theories and there is THE CONSPIRACY THEORY. The murder of JFK is the ultimate for conspiracy buffs. I was barely past being a toddler when JFK was gunned down and was pretty much oblivious to the incident until a local guy visited our school and showed the Zapruder film in all its gnarly horror. "Those of you who are weak in the stomach might want to cover your eyes," He warned. And later added, "That halo above his head...is his brain." Needless to say I was no longer oblivious.Jesse's book is a great read and chock full of facts. A real page turner it is. In my mind he has proven there was indeed a conspiracy but he fails to tie it up in a neat package. There being seemingly dozens involved, the book fails to identify the specific individual who orchestrated the event and the chain of command. The book is a terrific read. And Jesse's dry wit is ever-present but in the end it remains like an expanded game of CLUE. Was it the patsy in the book depository or one of dozens of others? The reader is pretty much left to decide.With Jesse's cherry-picking of facts from other JFK books one could almost consider this all JFK books boiled down into one. The bottom line is if you're convinced Oswald acted alone you'll probably not be swayed. If you're open-minded about the assassination this book might push you square into the conspiracy camp.

This book is one of a slew of recent books published in the last few years about the JFK assassination.Mr. Ventura gets his point across clearly with brief Chapters.Being one of the newer books on the subject there is a lot of confirmation of other works as well as a surprising amount of information that I haven't read before.Some of the areas that the author covered very well (in my opinion) are:* From reading this book I think you could almost identify one of the branches of military intelligence that Oswald worked for.Mr. Ventura provided a lot of details about Oswalds intelligence ties.* Through a photograhic expert he identifies the three "tramps" photographed in the rail yard.* The three different rifles found in the School Depository Building.* The large number of "national security" assassinations used to eliminate witnesses. It seems that the CIA used "national security" as an excuse for murder on a regular basis.* The changing of Secret Service protection in the Dallas motorcade from the motorcycle formation to outriders not riding on the Presidential limousine. Also, who changed those details.* Mr. Ventura spent a lot of the book examining Lee Harvey Oswald and the discrepancies of his physical descriptions and the almost certain use of a double while he was being set up.* I hadn't heard of a military intelligence abort team being dispatched to Dallas before the assassination.I give this book 5 stars because it was researched very well and is very easy to follow the points being made. It's hard to argue with the 63 points made in the book!

Like him or hate him, Jesse has facts and sources for all of his claims in this book and it makes a FANTASTIC case for the conspiracy to kill President Kennedy. The Warren Commission's story is suspicious at first glance and laughable after reading this book.Jesse starts with the smoking gun and just keeps slamming you with brow-raising facts, left and right. The guy puts a beating on the official line so hard that I don't think our government can believably cling to it any longer. The punches, however, are pulled a bit towards the end (chapters ~45-60) and the book begins to repeat itself at such a rate that I actually skipped a few pages (something I NEVER do). This seems entirely unnecessary given the quality and quantity of information in the previous chapters. Ventura could have easily condensed this book down to 50 facts that prove a conspiracy to kill JFK. It would have been a cleaner title and it would have avoided the repetition. I suppose he wanted to include everything possible and I commend that to a degree but be sure you have some patience in the final act of the book.I find Jesse's concluding chapter to be the best part of the book and it is the main reason why I gave this book 5 stars. Read this book and buy it for a friend, if for no other reason than to stir up some great conversation and debate- but I have hope that this book might change a lot of minds out there.In conclusion, yes, I recommend this book. It is a quick, thrilling, fact-filled, trial that shines light on one of America's greatest tragedies.

It's a nice read, it starts off really good, then it sort of drags on, but it finished interesting (the last 20 pages or so). It hasn't changed my personal opinion, I STILL BELIEVE Oswald was the lone shooter, but there was more to Oswald than we were ever told and therein lies the conspiracy, and the book does a good job showing a lot of circumstantial evidence linking Oswald to a big conspiracy. I think the government faked some of the evidence (like maybe the photos of Oswald with the rifle) and the government lied about what it knew about Oswald, but a second shooter from the front grassy knoll is fantasy land. The shots that Oswald took from the 6th floor were not as hard as the conspiracy theorists claim. Also, they try to say Oswald wasn't a good marksman, but they are comparing him to MARINES, in marine testing, not to civilians or casual hunters, there's no question Oswald knew how to fire a rifle, and he practiced more after his time in the Marines.

I bought and read this book for a marketing class. Sergio Zyman may possibly have the biggest ego on the entire planet. Although there may be some good information in the book, I did not find it due to his constant talk about how great he is. The majority of the book is just Zyman talking about all the fabulous things he did while working at coke.

It's not about winning awards for creativity, it may or may not make people "feel good", it is not a magic box, and it is not something that can be completely outsourced. Sergio talks and behaves like I suppose many of us would if we had been a part of Coke's success over the past five years. Given this success it is easy for him to postulate about everything. I wonder if he would be so brash had he not experienced this success. He has many good points, however, it is important to recognize his POV as one man's opinion and not gospel. A great read but one that must be evaluated within the context of your own existence.

After more than 30 years as an advertising practioner I worried that this would be another rehash of the obvious. It's not. It does cover the usual ground but with exciting bumps and with an attitude that refreshes. If you think you are in the business of selling than this is a worthwhile read. His other hair brained ideas are so poorly presented that I had to keep reminding myself that the book is only 239 pages long and it will all be over soon.

Initially, I didn't think I needed this. Well, effectively you do not need it - but it has two things going for it: 1) the answers to the exercises are in it, and 2) extra practice exercises are contained in it. Every learner is different but for me I find that more practice using the things learned as much as possible reinforces it all. This handbook companion to Kelley's grammar provides some of that.Just so you know, this is NOT the actual grammar but requires the actual grammar in order to be useful at ALL. So check out the grammar, get that and get this. Get both. You won't regret it. Kelley's is thorough but comfortably paced while remaining accessible AND challenging at the same time. It's a contemporary grammar and well designed. Get this and the grammar.

This was the text I used to learn Hebrew in seminary. It is a solid text that gets you into reading Biblical Hebrew very quickly. That is one of its greatest strengths.Organized in 31 chapters, at times, this grammar may seem unfriendly to the novice user, but after having used this text for some time, it is easily one of my favorite Hebrew texts. It takes a thorough approach and gives a multitude of Biblical examples to illustrate grammatical principles.This text is somewhat heavy on vocabulary as compared to other Hebrew grammars. Quite often students become bogged down later in their studies of Biblical Hebrew with grammar and let their vocabulary slip. For this reason I highly suggest using Biblical Hebrew: Vocabulary Made Easy! in conjunction with this grammar. By doing so the student can easily work ahead in vocabulary and focus on the grammar of Hebrew.

Presents the necessary tools for reading and understanding Biblical Hebrew. The organization of the information could be improved to facilitate future retrieval by the student trying to find specific information. The reference tables, though very helpful, could be more inclusive of different verbal forms.

Excellent reference book for basic Biblical Hebrew studies. Author clearly presents the information. Good review for those already acquainted with the subject.

A wonderful book for anyone interested in Hebrew. it's great for someone trying to teach themselves or as a review for the more advanced student.

The biggest endorsement I can give Sleep Smarter is that I've been trying to convince my wife to go to sleep earlier for years. Finally, after I got this book, I not so subtly started sharing factoids from the book about the benefits of sleeping earlier and better sleep hygiene things that you learn in the book (like leaving your cell phone outside the bedroom), but she wasn't listening. Finally I said, hey baby, let's make a deal, read this book and I'll read whatever you want me to read. She agreed. A week later, she's heading for bed by 10 p.m. and following other tips found in the book! #winning!What's great about Stevenson's book is that he has a really full spectrum approach to getting better sleep. Some of them are obvious, like the classic early to bed, early to rise tip. But did you know that the body's rejuvenation mechanisms are amped between 10pm and 2am?It's science backed information like this that really helps. It's one thing to know that its better to get to sleep earlier, but quite another to learn that there's a real qualitative difference between sleeping between x and y hours. Common sense would dictate that you have to get x hours of sleep (I usually just get six, but we should be getting more, though Stevenson doesn't lay down the law on a number, instead focusing on better sleep quality), but who cares when we get it?It turns out that when you go to sleep, when you wake up, and which hours your body is resting are very important.The other point I'll make is that you may be reading this and saying "whatever." 21 tips? I can get this from the internet. But, back to my wife. I recently read a book called Paleo Fitness for Dummies, which is quite a good book in its own right. The authors of Paleo Fitness recommend some of the same things that Stevenson does, namely, try to cut out the electronic sources of lights 90 minutes before sleep and to go to sleep around or before 10 p.m. I tried to share this idea with my wife and she just laughed in my face. But after reading Sleep Smarter, she is buying in.*So, here's the point: sure, you can probably find information on many of these topics on the internet. Stevenson recommends meditation. There's plenty of information on meditation. Stevenson recommends light therapy. There's plenty of information out there. But, sometimes you need to convince people to buy in. Stevenson does such a good job assembling this information and presenting it in a compelling style, that it is well worth a few of your hard earned dollars.And maybe the person you will convince to buy in is you.Highly recommended.* I actually labeled this advice the bad in my review of Paleo Fitness!"The BadSome of the advice is very, very aspirational. I've read a lot on nutrition, exercise and health and thought I knew enough about sleep. Turns out a lot of the tips on this book were either new to me, or provided me research and backing for things I'd heard were damaging to my body's ability to get a good night's sleep, but had questioned due to a lack of science to back the claims. My husband and I read this a few chapters a night over a week and really appreciated the format, for chapters we already were pretty solid on, we could read the power tips and move on, but for areas that provided new information to us, we took the time to read the whole chapter.We appreciated the author's sense of humor and practicality - for example, giving options for how to continue having coffee, vs. all or nothing solutions, and other "hacks" to help us integrate suggestions in our every day lives that can't always accommodate a perfect implementation.I had never heard of this author and didn't purchase the book based on his podcast. My daughter's doctor mentioned the role of sleep deprivation in weight management and recommended we look at her sleep habits as a possible cause for her unexplained weight gain. I thought this was strange as it seemed she was getting a lot of sleep, but looking closer at her habits, we realized she was not sleeping well and was tired all the time as a 16 year old. I had not thought about the timing and other factors impacting the quality of her sleep, not to mention mine or my husband's, and I was searching for answers about my own fatigue and recently night waking in spite of good diet and what I thought was adequate exercise. In looking for more information I found this book, and we've been applying these ideas as a whole family.

I usually do not give positive reviews often (check my history). I do a TON of reading of non fiction and self help.I'm 3 chapters in and I'm already going to give this 5 stars. It's literally that good. It's very digestable, very organized, the author is clearly a "teacher" (by another teacher's standards) and knows what to say, how to say it, how to connect with people, and has a natural humor that makes it very compelling to keep listening (or in this case reading). I'm already enthralled 3 chapters and I'll probably finish the book before the week is over.I already heard about the getting to sleep at the proper time. I've been doing it for about a week and already my outlook and attitude has changed completely.Also... Whoever decided on the cover, font, layout and all of that... incredible job. I know how hard it is to nail those things down but nail them down you did. Great typeset, comfortable line height, everything was beautiful.

About the Author

Eric Lane and Nina Shengold have been editing contemporary theater anthologies for more than twenty years. Eric Lane's award-winning plays have been published and performed in the United States, Canada, Europe, and China. Plays include Ride, Times of War, Heart of the City, Dancing on Checkers' Grave, and Filming O'Keeffe. Floating, a PlayPenn finalist, was workshopped at Raven Theatre. Eric's short plays are published in Best American Short Plays, Poems and Plays, and the Foreign Language Press (Beijing). He wrote and produced the short films First Breath and Cater-Waiter, which he also directed; both films screened in more than forty cities worldwide. For TV's Ryan's Hope he received a Writers Guild Award. Honors include the Berrilla Kerr Playwriting Award, the La MaMa Playwright Award, and fellowships at Yaddo, VCCA, and St. James Cavalier in Malta. Eric is an honors graduate of Brown University, and artistic director of Orange Thoughts, a not-for-profit theater and film company in New York City. Nina Shengold's plays include Finger Foods, War at Home, Homesteaders, and Romeo/Juliet, and have been produced around the world. Her one-act No Shoulder was filmed by director Suzi Yoonessi, with Melissa Leo and Samantha Sloyan. When it comes to what is good/funny/interesting and what is not, everyone can have a different idea. These plays did not, for the most part interest me, however, they may interest you.

I don't like these plays. They are for a mature audience.

This is a really solid collection of ten-minute plays. Ten-minute plays are a wonderful challenge for writers and are very popular with theaters all over the world. The editors of this collection, Eric Lane and Nina Shengold, have done a fine job assembling a diverse and eclectic group of comedies and dramas for this book, and also provide readers with lots of helpful background information on the history of the ten-minute genre.If you haven't read ten-minute plays (or seen them performed in theaters), I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. This collection has something for everyone – an excellent variety – and would be a good place to start. Particular standouts in the book, I believe, are the pieces by Christopher Durang, Warren Leight, Claire Reeve, Sean O'Connor, and Rich Orloff. Very highly recommended.

"Take Ten II: More Ten-Minute Plays," edited by Eric Lane and Nina Shengold, is a follow-up to the co-editors' earlier anthology of very short plays. In addition to the thirty-five plays, the book contains an introduction by the co-editors, some biographical notes on the contributing playwrights, and an index breaking the included plays down into six categories, from one-character play to six or more characters. Interestingly, the most represented category in the book is the two-character play, with fifteen selections.Lane and Shengold have not just assembled an anthology; they are on a mission to champion the ten-minute play as a distinctive and vital genre with its own rich history. In their introduction, they note that it's been "just over twenty-five years since the Actors Theatre of Louisville announced its first Ten-Minute Play Contest," and in their acknowledgements section they note further, "The number of theatres around the country producing annual ten-minute play festivals continues to grow." A simple Internet search revealed to me how accurate the co-editors are in their assessment of the strength of this genre.Lane and Shengold promise "a crash course in the depth and diversity of the American theatre" in this anthology, and they more than fulfill this bold claim. Some of the most striking selections are as follows: "Antigone's Red," by Chiori Miyagawa, looks at the internment of Japanese-Americans during World War II. "Classyass," by Caleen Sinnette Jennings, is a comedy set at a college radio station. "The Cure," by Romulus Linney, is a one-character monologue told by a mountain midwife.Also worthy of note: "Daniel on a Thursday," by Garth Wingfield, is a two-character encounter set in a gay bar. I really enjoyed Nina Shengold's "Emotional Baggage," a clever comedy in which actors play pieces of unclaimed baggage at an airport. "It's Not You," by Craig Pospisil," is an unsettling satire about friendship and choices set in a New York City subway car. Dael Orlandersmith's "My Red Hand, My Black Hand" is an exploration of biracial Black/American Indian identity that has dialogue written as poetry. Rich Orloff's "Playwriting 101: The Rooftop Lesson" is a deliciously absurdist piece about the art of writing a play. "The Sniper," by Anthony David and Elaine Romero, is a gripping drama about the relationship between an Israeli military sniper and a Moroccan journalist.I found this superb anthology hard to put down. Lane and Shengold note that the best examples of the ten-minute play genre function as "miniature worlds." In this collection they have assembled a truly diverse and rewarding group of these little worlds. This book is a perfect companion for the original "Take Ten"; I recommend both anthologies enthusiastically.
